Obviously, the Smithsonian, http://www.si.edu/.
You can go right to their Events Calendar to see what's
happening on particular days.
The National Zoo is always a fun place to visit.
Other museums include the National Gallery, the Corcoran and the Phillips Collection.
The National Park Service has a lot of good info about the monuments -
you can do a search for
all the parks in the area.
While not so useful for planning ahead, the Washington City Paper
has a handy search for all manner of entertainment
around the city for the UPCOMING week.
Some say the best shopping in the area is in Georgetown,
if you're interested there will be directions available at Rockwood
The closest metro stop to Rockwood is
Rockville, on the red line.

Rockwood is adjacent to Great Falls National Park.
The facility has picnic areas, hiking, kayaking (no renting, only for experienced kayakers) and wonderful
views of the falls of the Potomac river on the Virginia and Maryland border.
Glen Echo Park is also just around a few minutes drive away.
Glen Echo Park is now host to a variety of arts, environmental and history programs. Enjoy a puppet show or
